What happens on the morning?
On the morning of your flight the pilot will assess Brisbane weather conditions to ascertain whether there is a reasonable likelihood of the hot air balloon flight being able to proceed. If the initial weather report is acceptable we will pick you up from your Brisbane accommodation or meeting point as planned. In the event that the weather outlook is unfavourable your pilot will call you to let you know that the flight is not proceeding.
The pilot conducts a series of Brisbane weather observations to confirm the weather conditions are still acceptable for flight and decide which of our launch sites will work best on the morning. At our nominated meeting time you will board our courtesy bus and be driven to the launch site. On arrival at the launch site the pilot conducts a further weather check and readies the hot air balloon for flight. This process takes 15 – 20 minutes and is a good opportunity for photos too. Once the balloon is inflated, the passengers are on-board we are ready for take-off.
After flying the pilot will land the balloon; then it takes about 15 minutes to stow it back on the trailer , after which we head to the O’Reilly’s Vineyard for your champagne breakfast. You have the option to join in with the balloon pack-up games also.
There is then adequate time for breakfast, free wine tasting, a stroll around the Vineyard gardens before being driven back to your accommodation or meeting point.
What should I bring on the morning?
Remember to bring your camera and / or video camera; there are lots of photographic opportunities during your ballooning experience. You may want to bring a small amount of cash to purchase souvenirs or wine at the vineyard.
How will I know if the flight is going ahead?
We work on the premise of ‘No news is good news’! Unless you hear from us you should make your way to your meeting point and be ready for departure by the nominated meeting time. It is important that you are available on the contact number that you advised at the time of booking on the morning of your tour.
